Changes to Astro While I Was Away

Over the past two months, I didn’t watch much Astro, due to a number of reasons. Other than a one or two football matches on Sat (or Sun), I mostly was occupied with other stuff (although I still kept to a few series online).

Last week, i tuned back on to the telly, and noticed a few small changes. For starters, the new channel Nat Geo Wild (NGW Ch.550) is finally on. They had been previewing it for months before this. I love animal and nature documentaries, but so far NGW doesn’t seem radically different from Nat Geo (NGEO) or Animal Planet (APL). Same old format. How about something radically different? Like animals actually eating humans? No wait…

Some other small changes – Hallmark is now called Diva Universal (really, now? Does anyone actually watch this channel?) and the Travel and Living Channel is now simply called TLC. Now that makes sense. But actually they can call it anything, i still refer to it as channel 707.

Also, Channel V is gone! Why?! Googling around i found out that they replaced Fox with Channel V. Actually I don’t really watch Channel V except once in awhile, at least they still play music videos. MTV has almost nothing to do with music now (no wonder its called Miscellaneous Television). But always have good memories of Channel V back during the MetroVision days (remember that defunct station?), rushing back from my first job to catch the 6pm shows like UK Top 20 (with Trey) and Rewind (with the Sophiya).
