Webcomics
Published by simon on January 12, 2009I like reading webcomics on my feedreader, the problem is finding good ones. The two most famous ones on the Net are of course, xkcd and Cynide&Happiness (C&H). I love xkcd, the simple stick figures in a “webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language”. Only on occasion do i read Cynide&Happiness, their dark humor is sometimes too twisted for me. There are 4 contributing cartoonist on the site, and Kris is definitely the best.

I’ve followed quite a few other webcomics, but stopped after finding them not as funny as i thought they’d be, like Amazing Super Powers and Not From Concentrate. Some i read only if they appear on Digg.com, like The Perry Bible Fellowship (a bit surreal, but good), the long-running Joy of Tech (i love it when they poke fun at Windows!) and Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal (funny).

Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal
But there are two new ones that currently enjoy are We The Robots and Cheer Up, Emo Kid. The former is about robots working in mundane office jobs, I find it much funnier and a fresh change from Dilbert.

Cheer Up, Emo Kid is a bit like Cyanide&Happiness, but less gruesome. Plus i love the cute drawings.

Okay, now you know why i stopped reading the newspaper comic strips (with the exception of Calvin & Hobbes reruns)…

they r good. i think a local comic by the name of akiraceo is pretty good too. he/she is also a member of nuffnang. u can search the member there.
ok i must check it out.
Simon, it’s http://akiraceo.com. Heh.
oo..cool! Somehow, I’m still stuck with Shulz’s Charlie Brown.
jason – yeah i google it and got it immediately.
mott – peanuts is funny! i still have the books from the 80′s.
and how can i forget abstrusegoose.com?! looks like its drawn by a 7 year old, but pretty funny.
hee hee..i have them from the 70s!! that’s how ‘belakang zaman’ I am!! ha ha ha
Aside from XKCD, Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal and Cyanide and Happiness, I also read Questionable Content which jokes about indie culture, Ctrl-Alt-Del which jokes about hardcore gaming and The Least I Could Do which jokes about everything else. They are all awesome.
There is also another webcomic that I read called Gunnerkriegg Court. It’s awesome as well, but more serious and storyline based rather than comedic.
Best of all, they are all in my RSS feeds so it’s like a chuckle of a time 3 times a week.
thanks man! that Questionable Content is funny. It’s going into my Reader…
Heya Simon! What great timing! I just posted some XKDC comics on my blog too. You know what they say about great minds…heh! Hope you’re well buddy and happy new year to you and your family.
yeap, i think we appreciate the same type of twisted humor
