Truth. Beauty. Freedom. Love.
Published by simon on November 14, 2007Nope, it’s not the ‘just values’ of Al-Rajhi bank as promoted by “I’m Kevin Lim, Branch Manager of…”
It’s the four Bohemian ideals glorified in Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 musical, Moulin Rouge! It’s one of favourite recent movies… I have always been a fan of both Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor, so this was a must watch for me. It’s tacky and over the top in props and storyline, but the music and acting by the two stars were top-notch.
I absolutely love the song ‘Come What May’ from the movie… it’s here many thanks to YouTube.
My favourite scene was when Satine, played by Kidman breaks down crying, screaming at Harold Zidler, the owner of Moulin Rouge:
I don’t need you anymore! All my life you made believe I was only worth what someone would pay for me! But Christian loves me. He loves me! He loves me, Harold. And that is worth everything! We’re going away from you, away from the Duke, AWAY FROM THE MOULIN ROUGE!. Goodbye Harold!
The movie ends in a bittersweet tragedy, with the words “the greatest thing you will ever learn, is just to love, and be loved in return…”
Where’s my DVD of Moulin Rouge?

wow! u so drama!
It was indeed a splendid show, I agree.
There comes a show sometimes with a one liner or two that is worth remembering. And makes the show worth its weight!
Gosh I love that song. And it was a very original movie indeed.
