Hey There Delilah by the Plain White T’s
Published by simon on August 26, 2007Ever since i left the days of metal and hard rock behind in college, i’ve not really gone into the modern day bands much these days. I do like some of the emo bands, but it’s never the same as the fist in the air sounds of Iron Maiden or Megadeth.
But when i first heard this song recently, i absolutely fell in love with it. Story of a boy struggling to make it, keeping a long distance love with the girl he loves.
Hey there Delilah I know times are getting hard
But just believe me girl Someday I’ll pay the bills with this guitar
We’ll have it good We’ll have the life we knew we would
My word is good
Just breaks my heart everytime i hear it.

Tom Jones also wrote a song about Delilah that is quite tragic…
Moral of the story, never call your daughter Delilah !
What a sorrowful but beautiful song. Now I’m in love with it too. Always love a song with story.
