Published by simon on October 9, 2005It’s more than USD70 per barrel now. God knows how high its going to get here in Malaysia…
Top Ten Signs the Price of Petrol Is Just Too Expensive in Malaysia
- Petrol pump attendants wear Rolex watches and provide Mont Blanc pens for customers to sign the credit card slips.
- Even private car owners are lining up for miles with the taxis to pump NGV.

- The LCD price indicator display for new petrol pumps have FOUR digits (just in case the price hits more than RM10.00 per litre).
- Even the Ah Beng racer boys are car-pooling to the racing hotspots (usually the KESAS highway…)
- One full tank for Pajeros and Landcruisers can reach RM100 soon.

Haha… funny. But honestly, we should start getting used to unsubsidized prices. I mean, the subsidies don’t come from thin air.
Btw, petrol stations are merely resellers, I doubt the attendants earn more than a few hundred ringgit a month.
Airplanes don’t run on petrol or diesel (mogas). They use avgas, or kerosene. (and refitting the engines to run diesel ain’t worth it)
My Naza Ria is RM75 per full tank, I think. Anyway,I never have to lift a finger to pump petrol so I don’t even know how much petrol costs! Don’t you just envy me? LOL!
my waja costs almost 100 bucks a full tanks la … my past pump was aroud 90 bucks for 60 liters … fcuk
I pump more than 90 bucks on average nowadays!
But as totoro rightly pointed out, subsidies don’t come out of thin air.
Someone pointed out an interesting idea over the weekend - a capped subsidy, e.g. RM 5 billion, anything above that is absorbed by the consumer, this way when the prices come down the consumers benefit, too.
thank god i don’t drive a car but ride a bike.
oh! oh? bike also use petrol lah. well thank god mine is a small bike and i don’t travel far with it.
i use kancil.. full tank rm30. thank goodness my office is near my house… hehe!
Hey…my Nabira 1.8 already gulps RM90 for full tank. Luckily, we will be moving very near my office very soon! That sure will make a loooot of difference…hehe!
thank god i don’t drive a car but ride a bike.
oh! oh? bike also use petrol lah. well thank god mine is a small bike and i don’t travel far with it.
I used to ride Aprilia RS250. It’s 2stroke = guzzles a lot of fuel = very fast. I can’t use it to commute around anymore. Like Lucia, I use Honda Wave to commute which is quite cheap since a full tank of RM5 would last around 3days.
totoro - if they start withdrawing the subsidies… sure got picket one…
chan - “ahmad! tolong pigi pam petrol sama itu saya punya mersidis, jangan lupa guna bunuslink!”
inevitable - OMG, waja’s fuel tank is really big!
pat - gee pat, we are wondering *what* car you are driving…?
lucia - really? I can really imagine you speeding along the penang roads with all the penang motor kias!!!
hedonistic - that’s every employee’s dream.
mama22beas - wow, 1.8 nabira drinks petrol man… esp full load.
asyraf lee - ooooh… RS250 is one kick ass bike…
12 years ago RM3 could last me a week on my RC80…
Vios 1.5 from RM55 full tank now naik until almost RM70 full tank. Luckily I’m still a student, at least I can save petrol during my term breaks =P
Aisay…atm said i makan nasi tak tau harga. Actually full tank Naza Ria is about RM130, I think. *shy*
s-kay - most cvollege students i know clock up more mileage during holidays going shopping and holidays…
lilian - OMG, RM130… and how long it lasts? one week? Gila man…
*sigh*
this really makes me regret booking my car last month… iskkk…
but i *really* didn’t want to be a bus girl FOREVER…
Patrol price rise or not, still massive jam every where, and all single occupant!!
Please tell me - since I can’t find the actual price costs on the internet.
How much is Kerosene and petrol right now in Kuala Lumpur or anyplace else in Malaysia that you might know of? I’m talking about prices as of October 2005.
Are these prices scheduled right now to raise any further?
Thanks!
zara’s mama - including me!!!
les mangi - Premium petrol (RON97) in Peninsular Malaysia is now RM1.62 per litre, normal petrol (RON 92) RM1.58 per litre, diesel RM1.281 per litre and LPG RM1.45 per kilogram.
Wow, Simon! Thanks!
Les
Go to petrol stations more often so that you only pay RM30 per trip like what you did 5 years ago
Very funny top ten list…unfortunately nothing funy about the price of petrol now
and most of us can’t do without our cars…
Really? I save alot coz I dun go out during the day during holidays and it’s usually the BF who drives around. HAHA. And if not, I’d carpool with other friends. You think easy nak cari parking meh go one car-one person =P
The hike didn’t “hit” me until I saw my dad took out RM75. I was abit worried cuz previously it was about RM55-RM65 the most we’d go.
So worried I was that I stood with my hand holding the nozzle, another hand close enough to hit the emergency “stop” button just in case it spilled.
And oh, even so, the indicator showed that there was still one more “kap” (level) to go. Not penuh yet, afterall.
I doubt the Ah Beng racerboys would car pool. No matter how pricey the petrol, they’d manage. Just like cigarettes.
jacky - buden i’ll be at the station 3 times per week!
jeremy C - hard times must also laugh ma. if not get depressed…
s-kay - better that way. SJ traffic is crazy.
narrowband - wonder how much if you pump full. probably RM100…

poor malaysians…i guess u guys hv to be more creative then. try LPG (liquified petroleum gas) instead. in uk, we used LPG for centuries… its the typical normal cooking gas that u can use at home. i know i saved a lot… and it is even safer. imagine, LPG is at every home in this country and u can change it at any retail shop! but i wonder if it is even allowed in malaysia? owh, yeah… i heard NGV is also a help. but, yes, u do have to que with all the taxi drivers for fill-in.
