Mamma Mia! The Movie

My last trip back home, i raided my parents’ old vinyl records, including the vintage ABBA ones. Since then, I’ve been kinda revisiting their music these last few days, reminding myself of their great melodies and the memories they brought back.

As kids, we also had cassette tapes of their albums, and i remembered we played them until the sound quality became bad. Looking back, ABBA embodied the better side of 70’s pop music, holding out far better than cheesy disco music that we used to watch on TV…

Years later, we grew up, my brother went on to idolize Dire Straits, Clapton and The Police, and me, I grew out of pop and into Bon Jovi and Metallica.

But off and on over the years, when were we driving in the car, I’d turn the radio up when i heard the familiar hook asking Chiquitita, tell me what’s wrong, or can you hear the drums Fernando? I’ve always had a soft spot for their slower songs. Never fails to remind me of a better time and better life long ago. 🙂

There’s a new movie called Mamma Mia! The Movie, can’t wait to see it. I mean, its ABBA music in a movie, what more can I ask?

They are the best ever! Some of their songs are still my favourite to date.
The movie is based on the Broadway play I think. Had the chance to watch the play when it came to Auckland a few years ago, it was amazing!
