5 Meals A Day

I don’t really watch Astro Wah Lai Toi (Ch 30) but i stumbled on a really good show recently.

It’s called ‘Five Meals A Day’ (Yat Yat Em Chan), it comes on Sundays at 8.00pm. Every episode, the host Angel Wong, goes on a quest to find awesomely good food around Klang Valley, for 5 meals – breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and supper. She’s limited by a RM50 budget, and usually another co-host joins her for dinner.

I don’t know how long the series has been running, but so far after seeing 2 episodes, i love it. They seem to go for the really famous food places like the ones around the Pudu / Alor Street / Chinatown, especially for lunch and tea, but also cover famous eateries anywhere in the Valley. For example, today’s episode covered this kopitiam in SS15 Subang Jaya specializing in kan sui chung with kaya (for breakfast), this stall serving char siew and siew kai near Jalan Alor (lunch), tea was the famous egg tart in Sri Petaling (the original shop is in Pudu), dinner was bak kut teh in Connaught and lastly for supper the host went to OUG for this herbal curry mee. That last one looked REALLY enticing, maybe i should go and try it tonight!

Maybe ‘One Day Five Meals’ should also spin-off the series to cover Penang and Ipoh. That’ll be REALLY popular!
