(NOT a sponsored post!)
I reckon every home in Malaysian has one of those old round, blue coloured [tag]Kjeldsens[/tag] tins lying around. My mom used to put all her sewing stuff in it, I think when i was small we had another one or my Lego pieces (yes, I played with Lego!). They’re extremely useful, don’t rust easily, and when they finally rust, some of my neighbours used them as flowerpots…
The tin definitely outlive the [tag]butter cookies[/tag] by many years, people re-use the container to store all sorts of stuff. But speaking of the actual [tag]cookies[/tag], they’re definitely one of the best tasting ones around – always soft and fluffy even after the tin is opened for a long time. The standard set came with 5 different types of cookies, stacked nicely in two levels of butter paper cups.
Actually they were pretty expensive back in those days (even more so now), so most of us are more familiar with the tin than the cookies themselves!
Some years back someone gave me a tin for Chinese New Year… I’m pretty sure the tin is around somewhere, probably being used by my kids as a container for their hundred and one Barbie accessories…
Must go and check if Tesco has them…

Oh yum….simply the best cookies around before the other wannabies which have now flooded the market. I’ve recently appealed to my office to buy this for our pantry instead of the Julie’s and Kerk rubbish.

yes, I certainly remember these. They are but the only butter cookies I’ll ever eat anyway. But I don’t like those that are coated with sugar though. My favorite is the coiled ones – shown in your picture.

Hi there,
Oh yea, this was like the “designer-brand” of all butter cookies out there! And everyone loves them; they were so amazingly famous.
Today, probably there were too many brands out there and since prices are rocketing high (due to currency exchange), I think the younger generation just know what are butter cookies by definition or taste but not the brands anymore.
Kjeldsens was so popular during that time that everyone knows about it; it’s like an undying legacy – the brand that came all the way from Denmark; Copenhagen.
The Danish really love their butter cookies too:)
And I remember the recycled tins to store all sorts of stuffs….hehe, proves that Malaysians are a recycle-conscious lot too, huh?:D

hmmm… maybe they’re not available already… let me check the next time i’m at tesco.

I bought these coookies in the OX military and they were always in blue with yellow writing. I loved the color of the tins and the cookies. Now one cannot find them anywhere enymore and I do not know why. They are not that much more expensive than the others but really taste a lot better. EGN
