Fullmetal Alchemist
Published by simon on May 12, 2007After almost 8 months of start-stops, i finally finished the entire Fullmetal Alchemist series. All 51 episodes.
All I can say is that’s a long storyline, with almost too many side characters (although not as many as the manga I am told) with an intricate storyline. I sort of found my interest waning especially early in the second season, but decided to finish it off regardless (which explains why it took me that long to finish).
Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy’s First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world’s one, and only, truth.
But all in all, i think i enjoyed it as a whole. The animation is excellent, although it looks old compared to newer 3D ones like Black Lagoon or Last Exile. But even in 2D, the detail is awesome, especially Al’s suit of armor. The strength of the series is undoubtedly the well-researched storyline about alchemy, the philosopher’s stone and the homunculus. They explore the concepts in details, sometimes a little too detail for my interest…
Equivalent Exchange.
Jokes about Ed being too short.
Lust, Gluttony and Envy.
Winry Rockbell.
Alchemy circles.
Philosopher Stone.
I wonder if there will ever be a third season following the movie?

have you watched the movie?
I don’t think there will be a third season, considering that in ‘our’ world, alchemy does not apply. But I’m guessing there’s going to be another movie to follow up after the first one.
I never read the manga, as I can’t find a full set of the scanlated version yet. The plot between manga and anime branches away quite far apart from each other, and both are very concise it’s hard to tell which is actually the canonical one.
i finished the series like… back in 2005 i think. The first anime i actually watched lol. The movie.. Conquerer of Shambala waas quite good too.. so yeh im hopin for a 3rd one too
There won’t be a third one based on the movie. It was a great enough ending as it is. They couldn’t have ended it any better than what it was.
yeah i watched the movie. but i think they can still continue the series if they wanted to, seeing that the manga is still running.
the movie was okay, though.
The ending in the movie felt like a slap in the face and leaving me with a gradually growing feeling of being cheated.
Would’ve rather not watch the movie at all, me.
