Top Ten Reasons Why We’re Not That Excited About The New Superman Movie

Superman is back in town. New guy, new-look suit, new director. But after one too many superhero movies in recent years, they all tend to lose the huge impact of a summer blockbuster. I haven’t watch the film, but I reckon it’s probably going to be good, but somehow I can’t help feeling jaded about another Superman movie. So who’s next? Ghost Rider? Flash? Johnny Bravo?

Top Ten Reasons Why We’re Not That Excited About The New Superman Movie

  • Super-strength? Seen it – Incredible Hulk. Able to fly? Seen it – Storm. X-ray vision? Seen it (No pun intended) – okay fine, no other superhero has that, except those guys that work at the airport security…

  • When was the last time you got excited over seeing a guy dressed in blue and red spandex in public? (Not to mention the… okay, okay, we won’t mention the ‘wearing the under outside his pants’ joke…)

  • No Kristin Kreuk.

  • If not for his X-ray vision (which scares the bejasus out of the girls), he’d probably be a two-bit X-men side character, somewhere between Cable and Nightcrawler.

  • My mom always told me never to trust a guy that dies and comes back to life. Especially an alien weirdo that dies and comes back to life.

  • No Kristin Kreuk.

  • Lex Luthor is such an unspectacular bad guy. Give us a 8-tentacled man-machine or a shape-shifting naked blue chick then we can talk.

  • Maybe Superman should be doing more to save the earth, like patching the home in the ozone layer and catching illegal loggers. Like Captain Planet! Yeah, talk about a REAL superhero!

  • Did we mention no [tag]Kristin Kreuk[/tag]?

    (pic taken from wikipedia.)

  • Because we remember the disasters that were Superman III (“Superman Meets Female Robot”) and Superman IV (“Superman Goes To The Moon!”)

The new Superman looks a bit like the very young version of Christopher Reeve I think.
And the new Lex Luthor looks nothing like Michael Rosenbaum… dunno how to spell

LOL, your mom said not to trust Jesus too? Dead and come back alive. My kids don’t like Superman ‘cos he too kissy-kissy, so wrong strategy to promote Superman movie memorabilia to kids age 5-12 years.

Kristin Kreuk is beautiful, but that’s it. She’s so bloody annoying as Lana Lang. Too needy. This new bloke actually bears an uncanny resemblance of Christopher Reeve, though not as convincing as Clark Kent. The script was extremely shoddy. And Kate Bosworth sucked. Kevin Spacey was OTT.

Ken – this new guy should stay away from hoseback riding. Just a precaution.

    lilian – eheheh… good point… but Jesus didn’t wear his… never mind.

    BawangMerah – i HEART Kristin!!!

Gallivanter – actually i like Spacey a lot, but i’m not keen in him playing Luthor. oh well, they could have done a lot worse…

i’m not big fan of tom welling, but i think he’s ok for the role of a young clark. i heard brandon routh auditioned for that part in smallville…

miss kreuk cannot act la..always with that wide-eyed shocked expression…i liked her at first too then i noticed this a lot…n also when she acted in snow white back in the day before she became famous. you try n see… canadians abit stoned one lol. but yes, she’s hands down one of the best looking actresses i’ve ever seen….

  • dawn

yeah her eyes. feel like stealing from her. the only person I see with the same effect is a new local personality/host in m’sia. her and claire forlani. me thinks they don’t even want kreuk in movies…. maybe as an extra or some hot-chick-who-just-sits-there-and-look-good

  • simon

dawn – claire forlani: hmmm, i wonder what happened to her. my friend was so gila over her during ‘Meet Joe Black’. Also i once watched this old Police Academy movies from the 80’s and she was acting! very young then…
