    Purgatory

This has been one crummy day. Thank God its coming to an end soon. Had to spend the whole day doing something that was doing its best to test my patience. Then coming home, a nice chap on a motorbike pointed out to me that my rear wheel was flat. Fine, changing tires was not a problem. Only it started to rain halfway through. When i finished and drove off, I realised I stepped on a huge lump of doggie doo. Usually, I’m not perturbed by inconveniences like these. Unfortunately, today I woke up with a bad headache, and recurred throughout the whole day. I think the day was irreversibly…

Top Ten Things That Crossed My Mind When I Watch Desperate Housewives

Top Ten Things That Crossed My Mind When I Watch Desperate Housewives “Gee, Americans seem to spend a lot of time burying murdered dead corpses in their backyard.” “There’s definitely one too many advertisement breaks in just a one hour show…” “I can’t believe Teri Hatcher used to be Lois on ‘Lois and Clark’…” “Oh, look! There is at one black actor in the show! He came on for 7.5 seconds!” Wow, these make-up artists can make ANYBODY look good…” “Watching TV makes me hungry. I wonder if there is any more super-salty-cheesey-potato-chips in the cupboard…?” “Hmm…only one out of 10 American adults are fat and / or ugly.” “Okay,…

Singapore vs. Malaysia, Xiaxue vs. Shaolin Tiger

I’m bored, so I’m going to flog a dead horse. If you don’t already know, Xiaxue is a fehmes (‘famous’) Singaporean blogger. Very de fehmes. Shaolin Tiger is neither a Chinese bloke nor a striped feline. He’s a funny, cool British expat working in a monastery the IT industry in Malaysia. I first read from 5xmom’s site about the whole thing. Xiaxue apparently came to KL. She didn’t like some things about it. She bitched complained about it on her fehmes blog. Shaolin took offence to some of her things she said about Malaysia. You can read it here. Then a minor hell broke loose (not as big a hell…

    The Never-Ending Palestinian/Israeli Problem

Just read the cover story in the Independent UK on the evacuation of Jewish settlers from Gaza and other occupied territories in Israel. I dunno, I have been reading and hearing about the Palestinian situation ever since I could read and understand the news as a small kid. Every week since I was small there were stories in the papers, 8pm news and ‘Dunia Jam 10’ (World News at 10). Everytime I turned on the news there would interviews with Yasser Arafat or Yitzhak Shamir or Ronald Reagan or Moshe Arens or on-the-location footage. And I’m tired of it. And so are a lot of people. That’s not to say…

Introduction to Spanish Football by Simon

For those of you more familiar to English footie, the La Liga starts a few weeks later than EPL, and ends later, naturally. Its basically still 22 men running around on the field (plus an overweight ref), but there are some subtle differences in the spanish games. So simontalks is proud to present a guide to Spanish football. Spanish football is usually played at night. They usually also play at a much slower pace than English football. Maybe it’s because the players don’t get siesta time on match days. If you watch the matches on ESPN, you will notice that there is only one guy who is always commenting in…
